Growing up with Chiropractic

Growing up with Chiropractic

I began studying to be a chiropractor when my daughter, Rhonda, was 4 years old.  You could say that she grew up with chiropractic! What does that mean? Firstly, when she had a cold, a stomachache or bruised herself from a fall, she did not go to a “real” doctor. I would adjust her, support the adjustment with nutritional supplements and rest and we’d watch her heal in no time.  If her upper back ached because of carrying a very heavy bookbag, she knew to ask for an adjustment. Her birthday parties were always the talk of the class because instead of the usual pizza and bakery iced cake, we would serve vegetarian egg rolls and a homemade carrot cake with cream cheese icing; the lettering made of beets.  Rhonda may have been uncomfortable with this at times, but the decidedly different approach made a statement that what you eat is important in terms of your overall health.   She also knew at a very young age about the risks of eating foods with artificial colors and flavors, white flour and dairy products that create congestion. Fortunately, Rhonda grew up healthy!  She learned early in life how to care for her body and that there were choices about what to put into her body.  Sincerely, how very wonderful is that?

I invite you to bring your children into our office and to tell your friends and family that chiropractic is not just for adults but for children too.  In our office, it is safe and gentle. Children love how they feel afterward. They often ask, “Can I have it again?” We see that with adjustments they don’t get sick as often and if they do, they heal more quickly.  Sometimes it breaks the cycle of constant antibiotic treatment.   Parents report better concentration in school, improved posture, enhanced coordination which improves the child’s athletic ability and often, “a better personality!”.  Children soon learn about “wellness care”, the idea of keeping themselves healthy, not just waiting to be sick and then “fighting” off whatever ails them.  Chiropractic kids that have injuries in recess or in a sport begin to know themselves, that they need an adjustment.  Children and babies generally respond quickly to gentle chiropractic care.  Just imagine all the children you could help by spreading the word!

  1. As someone who knew nothing about this, I was so pleasantly surprised when you started working on james doing cranio sacral therapy. james is now nearly five months old and turns his head perfectly. You’ve also helped us with his constipation using your methods and helped me and my husband feel better by having the right nutritional supplements! I look forward to reading more about this in the future Dr J!
