Supporting Baby Boomers

Supporting Baby Boomers

“Boomers” are those of us who were born between 1946 and 1964, and make up the largest segment of the American population at approximately 76 million people.   We have access today to many amazing technologies that our parents’ generation could have only dreamed of.  Of course, with more choices comes more decisions.  My observation after 25 years of practice is that more and more “Boomers” are choosing alternative health care practices because it “makes sense” to them.   They are the ones pushing these alternative practices into the mainstream too.   Many of these patients are what I have termed, ‘wellness patients’ who understand the value of on-going chiropractic care to support their ‘wellness’ goals.

When in the past did we ever hear of ‘wellness’ goals?

In the past, the only option was ‘symptom-based’ care.  What ails you and what can you swallow to take away the symptom?   Would we put out a fire and not seek to find out the cause of that fire? Now we know that the symptom may be the ‘tip of the iceberg’ too and that to get to the cause of the problem or condition we must do a thorough investigation, much like the mechanics do on your car when you bring it in.

People want to live more consciously today and living the chiropractic lifestyle where you consider your body from a perspective of balance, coordination and freedom of movement in an environment of healthy eating, guides you to a higher quality of life.  I have worked with many “Boomers”  over the years with suggestions on exercise, having fun, losing weight, increasing bone density, preventing injuries, joint health and on lowering cholesterol and blood pressure.

Benjamin Franklin said, “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.”  Recent new patients have come in to my office with rotator cuff injuries, elbow tendinitis, knee cartilage issues, shin splints, achilles tendinitis, foot pain and of course, low back and neck pain.   Could some of these been prevented ?  You decide.

Have a magical day!
